Attractions
An active visit of golf, hiking, fishing, dining and even relaxing awaits you in Warrensburg. The Keth Memorial Golf Course is a U.S. Golf Association Regulation Course. Many nearby parks offer popular trails for serious hiking or just a casual stroll through nature. Pertle Springs Trail is very popular for running and hiking and has been enjoyed since 1886. Six historically intact Victorian homes are located a few blocks southeast of downtown Warrensburg in the Grover Street district which offers Victorian, Italianate, and gingerbread styles all within walking distance of each other. Warrensburg's history dates to 1833 when Martin Warren arrived from Kentucky and settled along the Osage Indian Trail. Warren, a blacksmith, found his cabin and blacksmith shop to be the local gathering spot. In 1836, Warren's shop was named the county seat of the newly created County of Johnson. While in Warrensburg, step back in time and visit the original town square, located at 302 N Main, where you’ll find the original 1838 Johnson County Courthouse, Mary Miller Smiser Heritage Library and Museum, Elm School-one-room school, and the Culp Building. This historical complex is maintained by the Johnson County Historical Society. The original courthouse still stands and was home to one “dog gone” memorable case. Old Drum is the historic Dog of the area, and you will find statues in honor of him, there’s even an Old Drum tour. There are a number of arts and culture centers to visit around the Warrensburg area.

If you plan to make it a weekend stay, Warrensburg has many Historic B&B’s, swanky hotels, and even RV parks that are ready to make your stay comfortable. Gelbach Manor and Cena’s Nook are respected B&B’s and there are several national hotels, many with indoor pools for the kids.

The Old Drum Tour will unleash the answer to how the dog became man’s best friend. It’s not only informative but entertaining. You’ll be sure to find it very ”fetching.” A beautifully revived downtown welcomes all to discover the history and folklore. Family FUN
Family fun awaits in the 'Burg. Retrograde Charitable Toy & Video Museum has enough retro games to make everyone a winner. Kids love it, and parents remember all the games of their youth. If you want to take a rest from all the outside fun, then this is the place. So many fun parks to choose from in Warrensburg. Check them out and see which is the best for your family. There are parks with open fields for picnicking and playing and there are ones with trails made for biking, hiking, running, and even some offering horseback riding. If you have climbers in the family, then head on over to the UCM Student Recreation and Wellness Center on the UCM Campus, which offers more than 1,000 square feet of vertical climbing and bouldering. Special harnesses for smaller climbers are available. It’s a great way to try a climb in a safe and fun environment.
