Will there be a 4th mafia game? ›

Back in October 2023, we discovered that Mafia 4 was in the works, with its devs using the Unreal Engine to fuel its iconic imagery. However, it isn't only Mafia 4 that's being worked on but Mafia 5 as well. We know, the news blew our minds too.

Since March 2023, we've known that a new Mafia instalment is reportedly in the works. However, since learning this news, there's been (almost) radio silence regarding the project. Now, with Summer Game Fest looming, rumours are ablaze claiming that Mafia 4 will make its debut reveal at the event.

The franchise consists of three mainline installments, along with a remake of the first game, a remastered version of the second game, and two spin-offs for mobile devices. A fourth game is in active development.

The Mafia does still exist, but they're not the well-dressed savvy gentlemen you see in movies. That was how they were back then, and that's how they've been traditionally portrayed due to artists' romantic vision of the quintessential mobster. But the reality is, the Mafia doesn't care how they're portrayed in movies.

Simply put, the objective of the game is for the mafia to “kill off” civilians until they are the majority, or for the civilians to kill off the entire mafia. When one of those two things happens, the game is over.
